What Should An Everyday Skincare Routine Include?

The first rule in skincare is that you can make it as complicated or as simple as you like. There will be different advice everywhere you turn but if you’re looking to build a strong foundation with your skincare routine, it’s best to start with the non-negotiables. Every day, from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed your skin is impacted by its surroundings. Whether it be from damage from the sun, pollution or daily grime, these elements can both impair the skin & cause it to age.

Here are 3 steps that every skincare routine should include to help keep your skin healthy & happy:

  • Cleanse

  • Moisturise

  • Protect

Cleanse: Why is cleansing important? Cleansing of an evening is really important as it removes any dirt, excess oil, dead skin cells, sweat, SPF & any grim that builds up on your face throughout the day. Having a clean base allows your skincare  products to penetrate the skin properly. Cleansing your face daily prevents the build up of dirt, which can cause bacteria overgrowth — leading to inflammation & subsequent breakouts, dryness, eczema, & premature ageing.

Moisturise: Hydration is key to keeping your skin looking plump and youthful. Because our skin loses hydration throughout the day, it’s important to apply moisturiser in the morning & the evening.

Protect: We’ve said it once & we’ll say it again, SPF should be the number one priority in every skincare routine. Daily. Why? Because prevention is key. The sun is responsible for majority of our premature ageing. UV damage is cause for concern all year round, not just in the warmer months. Therefore wearing daily SPF is a fundamental when it comes to your skincare routine. It is the ultimate anti-ageing product.
